Fabien Caperan Akuna, 2008 This object came from a series of object made in Guinea during a workshop organised by Quentin Cornet and myself. Seven craftsmen had been willing to work with us, among them five wood-carvers, a leather worker, and a cabinet-maker. We tried to jostle their working-habit. In the first week, every-one was working alone on a proposed subject, then they worked in pairs in the second week so that they should confront their ideas from a different speciality point of view. It ended with an exhibition of the produced objects. This lamp is the result of shared work between a wood-carver and myself. A simple and pure object set out from man’s hands.
